
Jaana Brinck (b. 1972) is a ceramic and visual artist who works in the area of contemporary art.
She works as an independent artist and as an art educator. Her education includes an MA degree in ceramics from the
University of Art and Design Helsinki in 1999 and studies in art education at the Lahti University of Applied Sciences
and Aalto University.
Her works have been in exhibitions in Finland and the USA since 1994. She has been awarded grants from the
Finnish Cultural foundation, the Arts Council of Finland and similar organizations.
Brinck is a founding member of Studio Savea (2007), a studio for ceramic professionals and sculptors in Helsinki.
The theme of Brinck’s work is to study man’s relation to his changing environment.
Brinck is a versatile artist. She uses photography and video to complement her ceramic work.
Images on ceramic surfaces are created through the process of laser decal print.
Alongside her own art projects, a communal approach and community art are significant in Brinck’s work.
As a community artist and art educator Brinck has worked especially with children.
